Solved SUPERAntiSpyware found an attack, Malwarebytes too

Up until last night, I was running Vipre Internet Security 2012. This morning, I got rid of that program due to problems it was causing. My solution to that problem posed in http://www.sevenforums.com/performa...012-causes-whole-system-hang.html#post1719476 only worked some of the time, and I was tired of my system being unresponsive for between 15 and 53 minutes.

I now am using Savior's security setup described in http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627

SUPERAntiSpyware found PotentiallyUnwanted.SoftonicDownloader.Process as did Malwarebytes.

C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\f_00054b (PUP.BundleOffer.Downloader.S) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.


I'm guessing I should change all online passwords after removing this? What other security steps should I take?

I don't think you need to change your passwords for this ... but it is a good idea to change them every so often

Thanks Jacee. I change them 3-4 times a year anyway. Might as well do it now just in case.

I would consider that a false positive, writh

superanti and malware both very good scanning programs post-infection
I personally do not care for superanti's realtime protection.
for those poor wretched souls who insist on using IEn I unequivocally reco spywareblaster - its not a cure-all but sure seriously cuts the risk. simply closes a lot of the doors
