supported disk capacity for enclosures

I am looking at hard drive enclosures on Newegg, and I found one that looks good: Newegg.com - MASSCOOL UHB-360US Aluminum 3.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure - External Enclosures

All except that it says it only supports up to 1TB, and I would like to hook up a 1.5TB drive.

What would happen if I stuck it in there anyway? Would it just not recognize it, throws loads of errors, or only be able to access 1TB of it?

You could try it and see. It might well be supported and you will be able to utilise its full capacity. Sometimes all they mean by saying that only up to a certain capacity is supported is that they have only tested up to that capacity. Of course, the limiting factor will be the interface circuitry in the enclosure.

I'll give it a try. If it works, great. If not, then I have gained an enclosure for my HDs up to 1TB, and experience.

At worse, I've blown $20.

Okay, I got my enclosure today. I left a review on Newegg (follow the link above).

As for my question, the 1.5TB is recognized fine. Who knows, Dwarf may be right in his speculation that 1TB is all they have tested.

It almost sounds like.....maybe they think there is a drive inside it....but could they really be that dumb?
