Hello guys and gals.

I recently have purchased a brand new copy of Supreme Commander 2 from steam (including the dlc pack). Had absolutely no trouble downloading and installing it.

The problem came when I wished to play the game. It wont start, giving me:
SupremeCommander2.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\system32\d3dx9_42.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try reinstalling the program again using the original installation media bla bla bla.

So the first clue I had -> delete -> re-download = no joy.
Update dxdiag using web setup = no joy.
Update dxdiag using june 2010 redist = no joy.

Tried different to google for d3dx9_42.dll to see if that helps, but it didnt. Naturally I returned the previous one back.

My windows installation is one week new, so I got all the drivers up-to-date.
Here is my dxdiag:

If anyone knows what I can do to make Supreme Commander work again, please do share :)

Best regards
Zing

Which file should I use?
I already tried installing from web setup and installing from a package (june 2010 redist).

I believe the problem lie's in the simple fact that no matter how you try to run 32 bit software on a 64 bit op system even in compatability mode for xp with service pack 2 the system still wont run unfortunatly i dont have the nescasary programming skills to write a bypass patch so to speak

I tried that too to, no luck.
The funny thing was, that when I had a pirate copy I could run supcom2 just fine.
But after reinstalling windows 7 and purchasing Supreme Commander 2 from steam, I can no longer launch it.

I would comment, but I won't.

Anyways, try running steam as an admin?
Also, try running command prompt as admin and type sfc /scannow
