Surround 5.1 only 2 speakers working

Hey guys,

I'm not very good at all this, but I've been searching for hours without finding a solution to my problem:

I've recently bought a SoundForce 5.1 (Trust) surround speakers set with a SC-5500P 5.1 External Sound Card. At first I didn't have the sound card so I could only insert 1 Jack 3.5mm and only 2 speakers would work at the same time.
Now however with the sound card I expected them all to work together, but there's only sound coming out of 2 of them (the other emit a very low 'pshhhhhh').

I've tried to configure the setting of my sound into 5.1 surround, but the test sounds only come out of two of the speakers.

Does anyone know how I should fix this problem? I've searched and tried many things, but I'm still clueless of what to do.

If you require more information or anything else, do ask. I'm not sure of what I should tell or give (information).

The jacks I'm using have 3 colours: Orange (center + subwoofer), black (rear) and green (front).
I've just tried some random stuff out: Putting the black jack in the green entrance (sound card) and that made these work. Same if I put the orange one in the green one, it made the center and subwoofer work. However nothing comes out of the black or orange I/O of the soundcard.

Could it be that these are just malfunctioning? (I just bought it today)

Do 5.1 sources play in 5.1? If so that rules out it being a 5.1 problem, and makes it that you need some kind of surround sound upmix to be done. I have no idea if there is anything like that for the audio on the Nvidia cards that have a sound card built into them. What you need to look for is some kind of speaker fill option (called Speaker Fill on Realtek, CMSS3d on Creative), or something like Dolby Digital Live (needs to be supported by the card and/or drivers, and can't be just installed as far as I know).

I've found this in another thread, and tried a 5.1 wav sample. However it still only comes out of 2 speakers.

Since you installed a separate sound card, did you disable the Integrated audio in the BIOS? If not, disable the Integrated in the BIOS as it could be conflicting with your new sound card.

How do I do that exactly? Do I shut down all the sound cards except for the external ones in the 'device manager' ?

The BIOS (or UEFI) is where you disable the on-board (on the motherboard) audio. Do not disable it in the Device Manager.

I don't know what Acer uses to access the BIOS at power on, usually there is something on the screen that tells you want to press to access the BIOS (setup). Many PC's use F2, some use "Delete key" some use F10.

it didn't work unfortunately. Here's why..
When I go into the boot menu there are 5 menus:
Information - Main - Security - Boot and - Exit

In the information menu I can't do a thing.
In the main menu there are things like date and time.. Nothing like peripherical devices or whatnot.
Security is for all kinds of passwords.
Boot is to change the order of the booting for devices, e.g. first one drive, then the next etc.
Exit is quite obvious .

So none of these menu's give me any option to enable/disable any kind of device. I read somewhere that you can however disable it in the device manager, but since you told me not to, I haven't done so.

Any idea what I should try next?

The internal sound is located somewhere in the BIOS. The Acer documentation that I found does not detail the BIOS setups.

However, go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, your USB connected sound device should be listed, and if it is not the default audio playback device, set it as the default. Then click the "Configure" button and set the sound type for 5.1. You can test the speakers from that panel.

I got that far, and testing the speakers the sound only comes out of the left and right speakers. Not the rear ones, nor the center one. I do hear a faint shhh from them so I know they'r powered up.

You install the driver for it,

The installation started automatically when I put the USB in the slot. I think the driver should be on the CD I got with the product I'll try installing it from the CD

Thanks mate! I do not know why or how, but it's working now. I reinstalled the driver and it's fixed . Thank you!

Mostly working, the setting in the device is put as 7.1, 5.1 is not appearing in the list anymore.. And 3 speakers work now, and the subwoofer . Two are still not doing much though
