svchost taking up as much bandwidth as uTorrent, why?

So, uh yeah why? its split 58% utorrent 41 svchost.

Why does it have as many connections and usage? What is it doing?

It's probably utorrent itself using svchost, or one of your browsers, or anything you're online with. Seems everybody goes through svchost.

SVCHOST.EXE also handles networking, so, if you are on a home network, someone might be accessing your computer. Also, Windows update relies on Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service [you can find it in Services].

So, either someone is accessing your computer or Windows update is downloading updates.

Other possibilities may exist as a worm may be spreading and / or some spyware or something like that!

If you can, try to find the destination IP address of the data that SVCHOST.EXE is sending to and try to ping that IP address, doing this, you'll come to know the name of the server to which SVCHOST.EXE is communicating.

Thanks for the reply, i'll see what happens after utorrent shuts down, its probably normal for it to do this if the connections go away with the torrent if its just part of networking.
