Swapping Desktop OS with Laptop OS

Greetings!

I currently have a laptop running Windows 7 Pro 64 and a Desktop running Windows 7 Pro 32. What I would like to do is do a fresh install on both PC's but install the 64bit onto the Desktop and the 32bit onto the Laptop.

I know the process is easy enough, but once both are installed properly, would I run into any issue during activation or any other issues?

Would there be anything I need to do before hand? (not including backing up files and such)

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

They are both DVD full RTM installs.

Great, for your pupose that is the right answer. You can swithch them around. If your key is not accepted, you activate by phone and you will speak to a rep. If you tell him or her, This is full retail and on only one computer, you will get activated.

Awesome and thank you richc46! That is what I was hoping the answer would be. I wasn't sure if there was a deactivation process or something like that to make the transfer easier.

I will report back here if I run into any issues or even if it went as smooth as butter!

Another hint. When installing it will ask for your key, do not give it. Untick activate automatically on line. Then when all installed and you are happy; do this

Then make a system image and put it away and forget about it, until you have a big problem

You dont' even need to change the activation keys as each version of Win7 is entitled to use either 32- or 64-bit kernel. Just boot the installer to overwrite the current partition.
