Solved Swapping two laptops using system image backup

My wife and I both have laptops and we want to swap them over because my Asus has a larger screen that her toshiba.

I thought that I could do this by making an image backup on an external drive and then using the recovery from system of win 7 to backup the image of the toshiba onto the Asus. this did not work. I keep going round in circles of getting an error window saying that I should use the recovery disk to boot the computer, which of course is what I was doing in the first place

I have read everything I can on the subject but no solution. Is the problem the fact that the toshiba is running 32 bit whereas the Asus is 64 bit ?

any suggestions please ??

thanks Ed

What you are trying to do will not work. A system image can only be restored to the system from where it came. Else you will encounter all kinds of problems ranging from drivers to activation. Your only option is a reinstall on each system or use them as is and make the modifications you need.
