Solved Switch back to default text selection mode

I have this problem from time to time that selecting is switched to strange overwrite mode. how do i tell windows to use standard text selection?

and how the heck is the change triggered?
i currently face that problem in visual studio 2010 while testing a lot of code for my program.
now out of the sudden whatever i type will overwrite everything after it.

This normally happens when you hit the 'Insert' button on your keyboard.

oh, boy ... i was not aware of that. that is a really old feature, right?

It took me ages to figure out why i was overwriting everything :roflmao:
