I have a very specific task that I wish to accomplish.

Right now I have one HDD where all my files and folders exsist for my computer. Only one.

I want to expand to two HDD, one for the OS and one for my games, videos and music.

How can transfer the OS files for Win7 to the new HDD?

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 64 bit
You want to keep Programs installed on the OS drive.

To transfer User files to a (Logical) partition on second HD, follow this tutorial and video:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18629-user-folders-change-default-location.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/72427-data-partition.html

I would make a separate primary Recovery partition on the second HD to save a Win7 backup image so it can be easily detected to reimage the first HD using the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/675-system-image-recovery.html

Then backup your User files from second HD to external, or leave a copy of them in a (Logical) storage partition on the first HD. Now you have everything backed up if either HD fails.

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to make your logical data partitions.
