hello everyone been a few week since i have been here, last time i was here i was thinking of doing a upgrade
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...g-upgrade-4-year-old-desktop.html#post2253190

Well i bit the Bullet and got the ASUS - - ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
And
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004CRSM52/ref=ox_ya_os_product

after installing every thing into my case i was able to get into the ( Updated 1503 )BIOS and verify Memory and CPU then tried to boot to the OS (WIN7 X 64 )it got as far as trying to load windows and then Blue screen, it went away so fast i did not see what it said. i tried to do a Repair to windows
was un successfull with the repair, i did notice i got a OxC00000e9 error ( Boot Error i believe) the HD is a (1T SATA Drive ) i do have a Image Backup from NOV 2012. but i would rather not do that untill i have exhausted every possible option.

any and all Suggestions Welcomed
Thanks in Advance.

Hello. i solved my Issue. but i have a few silly questions. First how i solved my issue, i installed a copy of windows 7, and i was able to get to the desktop. where i was able to install and update the new Drivers and BIOS for the new Motherboard. the new installed created a .OLD windows folder. ( That was Expected )then i noticed i installed a 32 Bit, instead of a 64 Bit. so i had top RE Install again this time with a 64 Bit Copy, install went fine, and also creates another .OLD000 Windows 7 Folder. ( also Expected ). now i have 2 .OLD windows Folders with a hour Difference in the time stamps. so right now the "NEW system" system is up an running with all the Latest Updates.

Now here are my silly Questions, i have a Image from 11/2012. if i restore the image do i loose all the Current updates i just did on the Motherboard and Windows 7 ?

silly Questions 2. can i copy one of the .OLD folders back to the C:\ ? and then delete them both ?

or is it better just to do the Image Restore and Re update everything ?

Thanks in Advance.

Don't know how you did an upgrade from Windows 7 32-bit to 64-bit. You would need to do a clean install which formats the C:\ partition and reinstall Windows 7 64-bit. Which will not give you the Windows.old folders.

Answer to your questions

1) Yes the restore will go back to the image before you downloaded the current updates . The image 11/2012 is that from your old Motherboard ?

2) Yes you could copy over the files inside Windows.old to your new created profile and then delete them using Disk Cleanup. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19151-windows-old-folder-delete.html .

That old image will have the drivers from the old motherboard. Will not work with the new Motherboard. What I would do is install the Drivers from the new Motherboard install the Updates then redo a new Image .

So all i should do is make an image of the new Install, with all the MB and BIOS Updates, minus the .OLD000 Windows 7 Folder ? , backup the new image to an EXT Drive? then i can delete the OLD Images from the Old Motherboard that i have on the EXT Drive ?

How would i copy over the files inside Windows.old to my new created profile ?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn`t, I would just do a new, clean install on the new equipment.

And don`t install any drivers other then the video card. Then run windows update, fully. Then and only then, check device manager for any more drivers you might need.

Hello again, i am in the process of copying both windows.old and windows.old000 to an external drive. so i can delete both of them from the C:\ 130 gigs total

Windows.old 3/3/13 3:11 (52.8 Gigs) win 32 i think.

Windows.old.000 3/3/13 4:52 (77.4 Gigs) win 64 i think.

I think i will do a Clean install once i get the .old folders on to a EXT HD .

since my first install was a 32 bit instead of a 64 Bit. that's how i got the 2 windows.old folders

Which of the 2 Windows.old Folder files should i use to copy to the New Clean install ?

might be a bit confusing i know .

Hello Again, i have backed up my .old and .old000 Windows Folder to an EXT Drive, i then did a Clean Install as per ADD RAM

"I wouldn`t, I would just do a new, clean install on the new equipment.
And don`t install any drivers other then the video card. Then run windows update, fully. Then and only then, check device manager for any more drivers you might need.

Checked device manager and install the Remaining USB 3 Drivers

So i can now Copy my DATA from the .old Windows Folder to my new Install/profile ?

I depends on what you are coping. Do not copy any drivers or things pertaining to your old motherboard. If you have any personal data that you need to copy you can, but I would think that was backed up in another place before you did the clean install.
