OK for the first time since the early Win XP x64, I'm thinking about switching to a 64bit windows version.
Got a lot of questions though. I've been using 64bit OSs other the Windows and they all seem to have various problems with drivers and most of all running 32bit programs.
How does it all look on Windows? i.e. i'm using Adobe Master collection cs4 and am wondering if it will work with windows x64... what about antiviruses, Flash etc?

Ps. Is anyone using the x64 on acer aspire 69xx series? If everything running OK?

OK, could somebody apart from anserwing my concerns PM me with a link to the latest x64 Windows 7 build + Office 2010 x64? (and please no chinese versions ;) ) English only :)

I would definitely switch over to x64. I am running Adobe CS4 Master Collection just fine on it. Anything codec related can be solved by using VLC player, and the latest Daemon Tools runs and installs fine, especially if you install the SPTD driver first, and then install DT.

I'm running Comodo AV suite, and it's working flawlessly. If you have any other questions, just ask.

mmm ok

well best question is first whats the spec of the machine you're running, mainly cpu and how much memory.

Secondly I'm currently running mcafee total protection beta with my 7264 build seems fine.
Flash seems fine
I can't really answer anything else. the only program I've encountered that couldn't be installed on it is the cisco vpn client. I found an alternative that works from the company ncp-e.

Most 32 bit programs will still install. WinRar I know has a 64 bit version too.

Thanks so very much for your reply.

I was mainly concerned that it still won't run most of the 32bit apps... How about the drivers? I mean everything on this particular laptop is working flawlessly out of box on the 32bit and I don't know if 64bit has the same list of drivers as the 32bit ver...

Other then that, please PM me with the latest bootable 64bit ISO in english plus if you have with 64bit office 2010 beta...

Dude really shouldn't be an issue...if you're going to try out the new win 7 build anyway try the 64 bit first if you have any issues you can always install the 32 bit...

mmm in terms of office I have the latest leaked version (don't think its the proper beta release) but there was a lot of issues with it it seems... I'm still running the original technical beta...the one issue mentioned was that it couldn't be uninstalled.

As far as drivers go, everything installed on mine...even my webcam (which had been blocked) and my (really) old TV Tuner card. The only issues I've had so far with drivers is the default nvidia ones sometimes cause stuttering, but using the 190.15 beta drivers took care of that.

It's not bootable...that's the same one I used. However, if you have a USB stick that is bootable, you can clean install from that. If not, you will need to take the boot record from the earlier 7600 leak and build a bootable ISO.
