Hello, where I work, we set everyone up with driods. All are backed up with a google account, where we can import contacts, but if contacts are added via active directory (which adds them in exchange) they don't sync with the phone.

How can I get all of the exchange contacts to sync on the phone, so that when contacts are added or updated, they do so on the phone. Please tell me this is possible, doing it with google doesn't update or add new contacts added through exchange.

Man, not one person here, eightforums, Microsoft answers, social.technet, etc has responded. Is this something that is really difficult to accomplish?

Hello mike,

I am not the uttermost expert on this subject, but I can try to help since at the office we used to be with Exchange before going with Google Enterprise.

I will go through every step I remember, sorry if you already know some of these and already did them.

1. Go in settings and choose "Accounts and sync"
2. Verify that your Exchange account is set up (you will see it in the list)
3. If it isn't, tap "Add account" and choose "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync"
4. Complete the steps to create your account
5. Back into "Accounts and sync", tap your Exchange account and you will be able to check all the items that you want to sync.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Peatawn

Thanks! The phone is setup that way but we only see the Google contacts. I actually need the address book. Could something need changed on the exchange server?

I am not too familiar with the Exchange server itself, nonetheless I have one last option you can check that I can think of. Sorry in advance if some of the terms from the Exchange server are slightly incorrect, I'm translating the items from French.

1. On your Exchange server, open the Exchange Management Console.
2. On the list at the left hand side, expand "Recipient Configuration" and select "Mail boxes" (or it could be "Inbox"?)
3. Double-click your account and the parameters will open.
4. Select the "Mail box Functionality" tab (or it could be "Inbox Functionality"?)
5. Make sure "ActiveSync Exchange" is activated. If it isn't, select it, and click on "Activate" just above the list.

I'm afraid this is as far as my knowledge goes. Hope it works! :)

Ok, What I did was, removed my Google account and the exchange contacts synced.

When I tried it on another phone, I needed to select the Global address book and choose "add to contacts"

Here is my question now. When I add new employees through the Active Directory, they update the next day in the GAB. Will it update in the contacts? I mean, the whole point is to have newly added numbers update with the phone.

So guess MY REAL question is, why why why why can I not sync my GAB? When I add info via active directory, it updates in the GAB, not in the contact list, and the contact list is what shows on the phone....and is what we need to update as we add info!!!!! Why isn't this possible? That isn't "syncing" that is just refreshing what is already there! We have around 500 employees, and having to log into each of there emails and add new contacts manually is NOT ok.

How do I sync my droid with exchange's GAB? Like I said, I can copy all of the GAB to contacts, but that doesn't do anything? It doesn't update in there when you add or change information....Pleas, please, please, tell me I am crazy and just missing one little thing, because if not, this exchange is worthless.

Bump, as this isn't anywhere near close to being solved. How is it that this isn't possible? Or have I came up with an issue that is way to dificult to solve? It doesn't seem that way, but what do I know?

Active sync IS enabled, still cannot sync contacts without adding them manually. I am not sure why this is so hard, and it is hard to believe that I woudl have to copy new contacts from the address book to the contacts in order for them to sync. This is pointless!!!

Ok, is there ANYONE with ANY knowledge of exchange/outlook? Please! All I am wanting to do is have the address book auto update the contacts in outlook when added! This cannot be a feature that doesn't exist.
