I have a PC running Windows 7 64bit, and a Laptop running windows vista 32 bit (I can install windows 7 on this if necessary).....

I want to set up a system where I can easily sync files from my PC to my laptop.

Is this possible, and if so, how!

You need to network the two together first of all. Whether by WiFi or hardwired ethernet through a router or switch, or using a crossover LAN cable doesn't matter in reality - and then use a sync' program with network capabilities.

I can recommend SyncBackPro for Windows7 (any flavour, x86 or x64) as it has a very easy wizard interface and operates smoothly.

There's another product called SuperFlexible which is a little more complicated, but is slightly faster.

Microsoft also make a freeware tool called SyncToy (although it annoyingly litters your drives with small hidden files which help it keep track of tasks performed!)

I hope this gives you something to go on... :)

I use a program called FolderMatch to do this. If both computers are networked, you can sync across the network; if they are not, you'll need to use an intermediary like a flashdrive or portable hard drive. I use both those methods (across the network to sync PCs at home - via a portable drive to sync my home PC with my work PC) with no problems.

7 <-> XP is not an issue. For instance, I sync an XP 32-bit PC with a 7 64 bit PC this way.

Thanks for your help. My PC is wired to my router and my laptop has wireless so I will try the programs you have suggested.
