I have a problem with the monitor driver, i have a samsung syncmaster 940bw i cannot get the driver to be recognized so i can get the native resolution, for you that dont know this monitor, on any other resolution other than the native the screen shows ALOT of blur what makes viewing of whatever impossible, i have tried using the driver that is for all windows but windows7 (x64) discards the driver and uses the pnp one, even with DriverMax the drivers wont be accepted, i'm currently using the DVI input with powerstrip (on a radeon 3870) and i got it to force the native 1440 * 900 but on games the resolution wont be forced, because windows wont let the drivers do their thing i guess, i have tried using the vga but the screen gets corrupted, i have the beta w7 ati drivers also, i'm very frustrated by this.. any insights would be very apreciated.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 build 7077 with a Samsung Syncmaster T220 and an ASUS EN9800GTX+ DarkNight. The monitor should support 1680 but like in your case it's detected as Generic PnP Monitor and no drivers can change that. On top of that, I'm restringed to 1280x1024 on a 22 inches widescreen

It's only the x64 version or also happening on 32 bit? Any thought is welcomed.

Regards

I also have a Samsung 22 inch Syncmaster and it runs the native 1680 as standard on x32. My video card is a Radeon 2400+ running the ATI beta driver with no problems at all...

So it seems to be the 64 bits monitor drivers version http://windows7news.com/forum/windows-7-hardware-help/windows-7-and-syncmaster-753s/. I was so happy with my new machine (quadcore Intel i7) and wanted to explore the 64 bit world, but it showed to be a little frustrating witg drivers and apps not working at all.

Anyway, thanks for the info :) Many people is experiencing the same issue with samsung monitors and Windows Vista x64 too, just google "x64 samsung monitor driver". The only 64 bit drivers that seems to be working are for Windows XP...

We spent our money on those monitors and we want them with their maximum resolution and working on 64 bit OS, What we should do? Any info is appreciated

Greetings

With a new install of Win7 Ultimate 64bit, I cannot get my Samsung 24" Syncmaster 244T to display at the native resolution of 1920 x 1200. I've tried three different video cards (nVidia Quadro FX 3500, nVidia GeForce 210, ATI 4850) with every possible permutation of MS and OEM drivers, cables, Generic PnP Monitor inf, Samsung inf, etc. Windows 7 never allows setting a display resolution greater than 1280 x 1024 with this monitor.

I have NO PROBLEMS displaying at the native resolution with either XP Pro SP3 or Vista Business 64 bit.

I've spent two solid days trying to troubleshoot this problem. This is EXTREMELY ANNOYING.

i too had problems with samsungs, i just got sick of it, samsung doesnt reply to support, warranty doesnt cover this, they supply decent drivers, i just got sick of it and got an lg full hd, all problems solved.. from personal experience to get samsung go for the really expensive stuff, other than that go to another manufacturer
