Synctoy fails to delete files

I am using Synctoy ver. 2.1. When doing an Echo, new or changed files on left are added to the right, but files that have been deleted on the left are not deleted on the right.

The description clearly states that any changes on the left, including deletions, will occur on the right. I'm sure thinking that when I started using this program several months ago it worked correctly.

Any suggestions? Or any other software that will do this?

Double check with a couple small test folders. Look at Preview. Should show what will be deleted. Echo works fine when I try it, and does the deletions.

This is from the SyncToy forum Q&A.

Q. SyncToy 2.0 appears not to sync deleted files when I have the sync option set to 'Echo'

A. This can happen if the files are updated on the right. This includes if the file was touched by an anti-virus program, music player, etc. To confirm that this is indeed the case - change the sync option to "Synchronize" and do a "Preview" sync. Do NOT hit run because this will sync changes from the right to the left. If on a preview you see updates from the right to the left folder, this means it was changed on the right. The only workaround in this case would be to manually delete the file on the right. And do not forget to change your sync option back to "Echo".

It works fine on small test folders. It's the larger files already established that are the problem. I'll try the option suggested by phoneman. I did completely delete the folders on the right side and reinstalled them manually from the left side. This is about 3 gb of data. I then tested some deletes and Synctoy would not delete on the right.

If all fails I'll delete right side folders manually and see what happens going forward. It may not be, in my case, a bad idea retaining old files on the right. Kind of a backup for old deleted files.

Is there any other similar software out there that is more efficient than Synctoy??

Google "folder synchronizer" There are plenty to try.
I use the sychronizer built into Power Desk Pro, which I use instead of Explorer.
I was considering using Synchtoy because I like the "folder pair" setup, but now reject it, due to your discovery.
I have data files in a folder I echo to 2 other drives. 46gb, +18,000 files.
Just deleted a file and ran the Power Desk synch and Synchtoy (both preview only) on the that folder.
Synctoy didn't pick up the deleted file, and was much slower on the compare.
Power Desk has a trial version. I still like it, but won't recommend it. Too many people have issues with it.
Maybe somebody here will recommend a dedicated synch tool.

After playing around with FreeFileSync I think it will do everything SyncToy will do and more. Easy UI to learn and seems to delete fine on the right side. Until I see different, I'm going with this one.
