sysprep issues

Hi Guys

I have a new haswell I7 I'm looking forward to getting into but first I need to move my windows OS from an I5 sandy bridge machine so it works on the new hardware which is new mobo, new chip, same ram, same SSD - so I thought sysprep was the way to go until it gave me the fatal error message

so I got to the error dump file and it is as below - any help on making sysprep work much obliged

alternatively I have acronis trueimage can the moving of system be done using the bootstrap utility to restore to new hardware?

Are you aware?

An upgraded Windows cannot be sysprepped. As this method is based in sysprepping, this tutorial is valid only for Windows setups which have not been upgraded.

This means that if you have for instance in-place upgraded Vista to Seven, or using Anytime Upgrade upgraded for instance a Home Premium to Ultimate, you cannot sysprep and this tutorial cannot be used in your case.

Notice that a repair install is also an upgrade install, so if you have ever done a repair install (= in-place upgrade to same edition), you cannot sysprep.

Sysprep does cleanup by running DLLs installed for that purpose - to help sysprep "generalize" your system when it runs. Some of those DLLs come from MS. Some can come with the s/w you install from 3rd party vendors. I googled your first error drmv2clt.dll,Sysprep. The results reminded me I've seen this error before! Sysprep can have a problem if a Windows media sharing service is running when sysprep runs.

Click Start->Run, type Services.msc.
Scroll down to Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, double click and change the Startup Type to Disabled. Click OK.
Reboot the PC. Try again

I'm not a sysprep expert (others here are) but seems after at least some sysprep failures, i need to have captured the image before sysprep and restore it before i can run sysprep again. But i think for this error you're ok.

You can try disabling the service and try sysprep again. (you only need turn this service back on if you actually use MS media player sharing.) Sysprep can be a learning experience but you might find it easier to try Acronis
