Hi there,

Firstly I might get shot cos this is a XP related problem but I've googled it around and can't seem to find a solution.

I have this laptop which logs into a domain. It can go in fine with administrator acc or this one particular user account, lets call it user1. But now the laptop is used by another person say user2, but whenever I try to log it'll prompt "The system cannot log you on now because the domain <domain name> is not available. I've tried with other existing user accounts which can log on fine on other PCs but still doesnt work.

I've tried logging on to local machine and create a username called user2, then restart and log to domain, still no go.

Can anyone help me out here? Last resort would be to format the laptop :p

Thanks peeps.

Go into Control Panel and then to Network and Sharing center. See what pops up when you click "Connect to a network".

Have you checked to see that the domain settings are identical for all Users? What (if any) Credentials are required by the domain?

hmm i've read the ms website but have no idea what it's talking about lol.

basically the office network runs on win server 2003. end users are running on xp and win7, logging on to the domain server. the user accounts created in the server are very basic. we just key in the username and password. there is no scripts, no space allocation on the server for each user etc.
