System Crashes with no Minidump

Hello all,

My problem is in two parts. The root problem is my system is crashing, maybe once every 2 days, sometimes with a BSOD sometimes without. My secondary problem is that the BSOD do not leave a minidump. I'm at a loss as to how to fix the minidump issue, and I'm almost positive the crashes are due to a driver problem.

Pertinent infos:
My system specs are up to date.
Yes, I have minidumps enabled and have tried both the "Small memory dump" as well as the "Kernel memory dump" options.
When I have Kernel dump enabled, the BSOD gets to ~55% completed on the memory dump and then seems to "freeze" at that point. If left for an extended period of time it eventually says that it is unable to complete the memory dump.
As far as I'm aware I have updated every driver I can think of.
I am not overclocking.

Tests I have done:
Memtest86+ for 15 passes, 0 errors.
Furmark stress test for 2 hours.
sfc /scannow no issues
check disk /f /r all fine.
I am currently running with driver verification enabled, however that won't help until minidumps are working.
I've run Data lifeguard extended test for my HDD, no errors.
Prime95 Blend test for 1 hour. (I probably should run this longer, I aborted because my processor was getting too hot.)
Full scans for viruses and such.

UPDATE

I have managed to produce a minidump! The problem was that somehow my system folder didn't have a Minidump folder in it... no idea how that could have happened, but it's producing them now I think.

Any of you debuggers care to analyze the minidump for me?

Could this be the cause? The system works hard, the processor gets hot, then the system BSOD's on you.
I would suggest fixing the cooling issues on the system before proceeding with other steps.

What settings are you using for Driver Verifier?

The dump file blames RTKVHD64.sys - your Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver. Please do the following:
- Download a fresh copy of Win7 compatible Audio software/drivers for your system from the manufacturer's website: Realtek
- Uninstall the current Audio software/drivers from your system
- Install the freshly downloaded software/drivers
- Monitor for further BSOD's

I'm running the Verifier with all the options checked except "Low resource simulation" and only running it on non-Microsoft Drivers.

I have had some trouble with the Realtek drivers before, so it's not surprising me at the moment. Often during a crash I'll get a quick repeating audio glitch. Just last night I tried updating to the newest audio driver for it, and I still got another BSOD at startup referencing RTKVHD64.sys. Therefore I have uninstalled the Realtek drivers and am using the windows provided drivers to see if another crash occurs.

I am currently looking into a different cpu cooler, but I believe I can definitively state that the crashes are not temperature related. Looking at my core temp logs, the crashes weren't usually at times of extreme (or even hot) temps.

Update

OK, so I've been running some different things the last week and there are definitely some issues still going on.

With the stock Windows 7 drivers, I was still getting crashes only these crashes would be (seemingly) random restarts. I was also still getting audio glitches a couple times with the crashes.

I installed the updated drivers for the audio card after getting crashes with the Windows drivers. There was a new driver set available at my motherboard manufacterer's website.

However, I am just back to getting BSODs as well as my reoccurring problem of no minidump files! It is still hanging up and not producing minidumps. I have tried multiple settings, and I can't understand why I am unable to get minidumps to work correctly. Only two were created last week when I discovered there wasn't a "Minidump" folder and created one.

I am a bit at the end of my rope, I don't know what else to try. I'm attaching the other debug info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just today I'm seeing a lot of issues with AMD Phenom II processors (3 in the last 2 hours). From what I could find out, the processor is supposed to shut down on it's own at 62ºC - but some people are reporting higher temps without shutdowns.

Also, this is just reporting from other people, so it's not known how accurate these situations are. I was unable to find the official AMD specifications for that processor. Also, the posts that I've read about state that the core temps are calculated from the CPU temp - so it's the CPU temp that counts, not the core temps (once again, this is all from other people - not from AMD).

Troubleshooting minidumps is a real PITA - as you have to determine where the crashes are occurring, and what is happening with them. There are many, many different reasons for not capturing a crash dump - and we usually don't spend a lot of time troubleshooting them (the crashes are troubleshot in different ways).

FWIW - you're also missing about 1/4 of the events in your event log. This may be associated with the memory dump problem also.

The dump files in the MSINFO32 report point pretty definitely to your audio card drivers. If you've updated the drivers and are still having issues - then we've got to wonder about the audio card itself.

Please uninstall the audio software/drivers and then remove the card from the system. If the card is built into your motherboard, then please disable it in the BIOS. Then run Driver Verifier again to see if you can force another BSOD.
