System Freezes and not stable after installing Crosshair RAM?

Failing that, try running the pc with just 1stick of ram in. Test each stick on it's own.

Yes Paul ,
I can see the ram volts are 1.5
Cant run mem test or any other jack S*** . I cant get past the windows password screen before it freezes and I get the BSOD ...

I really dont think its the RAM because I has a BSOD problem before I replaced the RAM ....See I orginally thought it was a Video card issue. so I dumped the video card and I am using the onboard graphics now :(

The only thing not shown in your screenshot is the ram voltage. Can you confirm it is at 1.5v in the bios?

That's also why I asked for the Advanced Memory settings. And perhaps I missed it, but I didn't notice the memory speed being shown; again a reason for the Advanced memory Settings.

Edit: never mind, I see the speed - 1596.6. So yeah, the memory is pretty much running at 1600; which indicates proper XMP settings, to include voltage. In short, I'm pretty sure the memory is at 1.5 volts. But...

Well looking at the advanced memory screen, your memory appears to be running fine.

As to the sudden fix, well, perhaps messing about in the BIOS fixed it

We'll await further word from you.

And yeah, try a game and see what happens.

Good luck.

While it is still running are there any other test I can perform so you guys can check why it is so random and instable ??

I think I need some sort of check list or stabilty check for all the new componants i put in over the past three months . Something like 1) check Motherboard 2)check graphics (onboard) 3) check RAM ..

Please dont mark this as solved because although its running fine now Im sure it will present the same issue again in a few hours

{edit. Im play a fast 2 D game and I can see google chrome visibaly loading the pages from top to bottom, lots of lag that was not there before and I can here my proccessor fan spinning like crazy ? )

(edit again .. Played a facebook game for 20 mins and it BSOD me again ?? Im thinking its the onboard graphics as the screens had pretty intense looking graphics but loadedthem from top to bottom ??)

Cant run mem test or any other jack S*** . I cant get past the windows password screen before it freezes and I get the BSOD ...

First off, memtest doesn't require Windows. In fact you could run memtest without having an OS installed. See instructions here - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html. So if you have another computer you could download the files and set it up to run in your troubled machine.

You really need to do this first to determine if your RAM is bad.

That said, have a couple of questions that needs answer; a rehash so to speak...

  • Are you overclocking?
  • Is your memory a purchased set or is it mixed (you bought different modules at different times)?
  • What specific version of Windows is this, and where did you get it?
  • What size power supply do you have?
  • Is the 8 pin EPS power connector connected to the MB?
  • Lastly, have you checked to see that your CPU cooler is fully secured to the MB?
At any rate you really need to run memtest to determine where the memory is, after that...

And if you can't run memtest from the BIOS, you have a hardware problem, NOT a windows problem.

Thanks

[*]Are you overclocking?
No Sir .. I am not overclocking :) Im running a new i5 processor at 3.1ghz as per factory instrucions

[*]Is your memory a purchased set or is it mixed (you bought different modules at different times)?
Its a purchaed set of Crosshair Vengangace 2 x 4Meg ... I removed the mixed and I am putting the vengance ONLY DDR3 1 and 2 ( this is clearly marked on the motherboard, as per manual.

[*]What specific version of Windows is this, and where did you get it?
Im using Windows 7 home, I paid for it and have the disk.

[*]What size power supply do you have?
I have a Crosshair 750volts

[*]Is the 8 pin EPS power connector connected to the MB?
Yes Sir it is
[*]Lastly, have you checked to see that your CPU cooler is fully secured to the MB?
Im not sure what the CPU cooler looks like ? Im am assuming the i5 has its own fan. I can see the i5 fan going around with no clunking and it seems to be spinning clearly ...I only have |CPU fan and a case fan running and they seem to be running fine? I removed the radeon graphics card to use the onboard graphics

I did run Memtest ... it found no problems. how can I post you the results?

I'll have a look at the dmp files this evening when I get home from work.

In the meantime please run MemTest86+ for a minimum of 8 passes.

It shouldn't take that long. If I remember, it should only take maybe a few hours. It's been awhile but it certainly shouldn't be no more than 5 hours, if that.

Good luck

And this one confused me....

[*]is your memory a purchased set or is it mixed (you bought different modules at different times)?

This sounds like you had mixed RAM in the system. You need to use ONLY matched sets. So, for troubleshooting purposes, just leave the matched Corsair Vengeance in, nothing else. Run memtest and report back the results.

Unfortunately your earlier ZIP file doesn't cotain the BSOD .dmp file so I have nothing to analyse.

Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and locate any files with a .dmp extension. Copy them to another user created folder, then ZIP them, and upload them here in your next reply. Send me a PM to let me know when you have done that.
