The computer ran great this morning, until about an hour ago when I noticed it was frozen at the log on screen. Tried everything to get it to respond. nothing. I turned it off by the power button, and thought I would try the memtest again.

Start the memtest86 and come back to the computer about an hour later to find this:

Im not sure if memtest stops when it finds errors or if the system froze, because it was stopped at 44% and not going anywhere.

Do I have to start pulling ram or can you guys diagnose it somewhat with that screen shot?

You have to start pullng ram. Run memtest with each individual stick to find the bad ones

So run it with one stick at a time? Does it matter which slot its in?

Kyle

start with one known good stick and test in each mobo slot. It should pass.

All this is specified in the memtest instructions.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption. Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

1-Memtest.
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

When I opened up the machine I found one of my ram sticks not fully locked in the slot.

Thinking that was hopefully the problem, I snapped it in all the way. Plugged the computer back in and ran memtest86. It made one clean pass so I restarted the computer.(I know you're supposed to run multiple passes, but I thought this loose ram was the problem)

But later last night it froze up on me again. and a couple hours later I came back to see it frozen at the log on screen again.

Im really not sure what it is now, Im going to try and run memtest86 and let it do a couple passes.

Just finished the memtest. I ran each stick in a different slot. I let it make 3 passes for each stick. Came back with 0 errors. I will see if the problem persists.
