System freezes when idle

Hey,

a little while ago I was experiencing the exact same problem as I am having again now. The only catch is, this is a completely different build. The only parts that are still the same are the keyboard & speakers.. (MS Sidewinder X6 without the num pad & Logitech's Z-10 - both usb), oh & the case + fan-controller (Coolermaster ATCS840 + ZM-MFC1 Plus), and of course Windows 7 64 Ultimate with updated Chrome as my main browser, Aida64 Ultimate for monitoring & NIS2011 (I changed back from MSE to Norton, since it makes no difference).

Anyway this system is rock-solid when worked on or stressed; that's 10+ hours Memtest86+ 4.20, 100 runs LinX all memory, 2+ hours Furmark, etcetc. Every test I throw at it, it passes. When gaming it has also never crashed on me,

however,

when the system is idle or when simply running some torrents it WILL freeze - sometimes after an hour, sometimes after 5+ hours, but it will freeze eventually, & then needs a hard restart. There's also never any BSOD's, just freeze.

I already ran verifier but nothing crashed, & I updated all 3rd-party drivers (I think..).

System specs are updated. Hopefully someone can find something in the reports.. Thanks in advance!

I've the exact same problem. In my case, a fully new (1 week old) OEM W7 Home Premium, I7-2600, 8GB, ASUS Sabretooth P67 w/ 120Gb Emcrest SSD and a GTX570. I have a USB mouse and PS/2 Keyboard. In the freeze, the mouse IR led turns off, Keyboard led remains on, screen freezes including clock but ethernet leds flash crazily and causes my switch (and as a result, other PC's on that LAN have no more LAN/Internet connection).
As far as I can tell, all BIOS and W7 powersaving modes are off.

Extra question: Is this situation where the screen 'freezes' (but continues to show that what was running at the time of the Windows 7 crash) = BSOD? Or am I to take BSOD literally....

MvdB and MR PINK, please do not post your own problems in other peoples threads. Start your own and someone will assist you with your problems.

rabor: I don't see anything that sticks out in your logs (it's in Dutch so I might have missed something). There are two different Intel network drivers loaded. One is more updated then the other. Download the latest driver from here http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...®+82583V+Gigabit+Ethernet+Controller&lang=eng and see if it fixes your problem

Hi,

the board has 2 Gbit-ports (Intel 82579V & 82583V), & it's updated now. Let's see what happens.

Thanks.
