I have Hp Notebook 1000 with following specs
500 gb hard
2gb ram
i3 2.40ghz
Windows 7 home basic 64 bit

when I use internet explore or any other browser along with skype ram usage goes to 1.76 gb or round about it means by using more applications ram usage increases and system slows down.
I have another laptop core2duo with following specs
2.7ghz
1gb ram
80 gb hard
windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

On this laptop by opening more applications the ram usage not increased too much

so what is the problem of my solution?

Hello salik and welcome to Seven Forums.

Computer # 1 has 2GB installed RAM and is running a 64-bit Windows 7.
Computer # 2 has 1GB installed RAM and is running a 32-bit Windows 7.

It's very likely that both machines are setting aside a small portion of total installed memory to be used with the video graphics card. Let's say they each set aside about .250GB (one-quarter GB.) Computer # 1 now has 1.750GB available RAM while Computer # 2 has only .750GB available RAM.

According to Microsoft, a 64-bit computer needs 2GB RAM while a 32-bit computer needs 1GB RAM.

Windows 7 system requirements - Microsoft Windows

Even if Microsoft over-estimated and it only takes .750GB RAM for either computer to work, Computer # 1 has 1.750GB available. As you open more apps your RAM usage will be able to show higher values. But Computer # 2 is already pretty much maxed out on RAM so it would be very unlikely to show a large increase as more apps are opened.

Solution: Add as much RAM as you can to both machines.

If you add some more amount with the price of a 2GB RAM, you will get a 4 GB. Performance depends on total quantity, not on the number of sticks when all the sticks are of equal mhz. If you can buy the new RAM of matching configuration with the existing, you can use the both at a time.

That depends on what's in the PC now and whether your going to add to it or just replace with all new.
Example, it a PC has two slots and one 2 gig module in one slot, you could just add another 2 gig module for 4 gig. If it has two slots and two 1 gig modules you'd need to remove one to go to 3 gig or replace both to go to 4 gig. also as mentioned, you'll get better performance if you match the modules so they are both the same speed. Identical modules from the same manufacturer is optimum. If your motherboard supports faster speeds that the current modules upgrading to faster RAM may advantageous. The bottom line is you need to know what sizes and what speed or RAM your motherboard will support.

If you're not sure what kind of RAM your computer(s) need, you could use this free "Memory Advisor" tool from Crucial.

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com

Fill in your computer info and it will show what is compatible for each machine. (Maximum RAM per slot, DDR or PC type, etc.) Make note of the RAM specifics and then you can shop around for the best prices. ;)
