Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 rev 1 and original Window 7 Pro 64 disc.
I have a perfectly good 2TB WD Green HDD. I added 3TB WD Black for backing up and converted it to GPT in order to see full 3TB. Now decided to use 3TB as main HDD and backed up and imaged working 2TB HDD to another 2TB WD HDD.
The "Advanced Bios" states that the EFI CD/DVD Boot Option should be set to EFI to support >2.2TB and that has been done.
3TB HDD has been formated in Windows Disk Management but cannot be changed to a MBR. There is a 100MB "EFI System Partition" at the start which cannot be changed (or should I say I cannot change).
System set so 3TB is Primary HDD and imaged / backup 2TB is secondary. (Working 2TB not connected)
I can load Windows 7 ok, but I cannot image or restore the computer as I get the ".....system image was created on a computer using Bios and this computer uses EFI" even when doing a fresh install.
I have Googled problem for last 2 days and tried creating a usb boot as well, another message is Windows cannot install because HDD is GPT, or words to that effect. Totally confused Any ideas? Thanks in advance and yes it would have been quicker to rebuild from the original disc but...
