So I have a laptop, just 1 HDD split in 2 partitions; a system partition and personal files partition.

I want to be able to create a system image so that way if for some reason the OS system files dies or gets corrupted, I can just load up a CD with that image. But when I try to create a system image via Windows, I have to create a system image of both partitions.

Can I just create a system of image just my OS partition and not my non-OS partition?

I am guessing there are some operating system files on the second partition.
It would help if you go into "Disk Management" and up load a screenshot of your HDD. Use the Windows snipping tool and the little paperclip on the posting tools bar.

Hi abc617

When you moved you user folders to a separate partition did you move the individual folders or the whole user profile. If is was the latter then as mjf said it will be because you also move your appdata folder which is a system folder and required for windows to run therefore is automatically included in the image.
There are ways around it using a third party imaging tool but we need to know whats on that partition first as restoring one without the other may result in failure.
