I have 6 system image backups from 6 different systems on my external HDD and I'm trying to recover system #6 but when I go to system image recovery (spamming F8 > Repair My Computer) it only shows the first 3 system image backups why is this?

Temporary Solution: Move backups #12345 to a different disk then the system image recovery tool can read system image backup #6

Here's what I'm talking about: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

UPDATE: Just tried the external HDD on my main PC to see if it can read all 6 backups, nope. The same first 3 are only shown and my main PC is Windows 7 Ultimate, thinking it might be a Windows 7 Version limitation. All systems are updated

In your pic, the middle column is "Most recent image". Maybe for some reason the tool thinks some of the images are from the same system. I know it shows that field even if you only have one image; it's just a possible reason for why only three images appear.

Presumably it would use the machine name to differentiate systems, but it could use something else like the "Product ID" that's seen on the Computer Properties screen. If you did anything like duplicate an installation to another disk or partition, the duplicated installations could appear as the same system.

I was thinking of that but how is that possible when all my backups came from different systems, all legitimate version of Windows 7 ranging from Home to Professional. I never duplicated my Backups, it could be a bug in Windows 7 or my external HDD has something wrong with it?

If all six systems are legitimate and have different names, then that can't explain it.

I tried to search for tutorials and such which featured pics of the same dialog you posted, but didn't have much luck. It may simply be that there's a bug which prevents location or display of more than three images. I think that's more likely than an issue with the HDD anyhow.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm going to try to move these backups to a different external HDD/USB to see if that fixes the issue or is it actually a W7 bug...
