System Image Unable to Restore

Hi,

I recently made a hardware switch. In order to do so I made a system image to move over to new mobo. worked fine 2 months ago. More recently I upgraded/switched cases. Thought it was no big deal. System wouldn't load. Blue screened.

I attempted to do another system image recovery. However this time isn't working. I've probably gone to the well one too many times at this point.

I'm able to go through the system image motions and it takes about 5 hours for the system image to be restored. This is where the problem occurs. After the system image, I should be able to do a startup repair and get on the right track. However after the system image is apparently successful. On reboot it is not reading or detecting the OS/Image. Thus I am unable to do startup repair or a system restore.

I am now stuck in a system image loop that does nothing. Even after a diskpart>clean.

I used the system image recovery available through Win7. I know I should have used something else, but I'm beyond that.

My only thought on a solution at this point is to acquire a copy of Win7, do a clean install and then restore from the new install. That will be my last option. If that is an option.

Please help. 700GB of information and my academic research programs are at stake.

Thanks

Have you arrived at a solution yet? I was going to suggest one or more of the following: MiniTool Power Data Recovery, Restorer Ultimate, Steller, R-Studio; not to make new backups, rather, hoping that one of those will be able to read your saved image and do a restore for you. I've never tried that, advise as to your results.

Cyclic redundancy error 0x80070017

Hi
My system kept crashing so HP customer care told me to back up and do system recovery.
I back up my system into an external hard disk and was told to do system recovery on my lap top. Then restore the back up.
After I finished system recovery and tried to do a back up restore, I got this error "cyclic redundancy error" 0x80070017
I've 2 external hard disks and I tried both. Both had the same error message! HP now says "oh maybe you didn't back up properly" but I followed the instructions on the Windows control panel and it backed up for 3 days from 0-100%! And I checked the folder it had 256GB of files. So it must be completed.
What can I do? I'm sure the files I backed up are there. I can't use it now. Can it be saved? Pls help.
