Hi,

I think I'm n the right section. Brand new Lenovo G570. Using Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and I keep getting viruses. Restored to factory settings and I think the virus is still here. For Windows 7 update preference I chose to notify me before installing updates and let me choose which updates I want to install, computer keeps changing to update automatically @ 3am everyday. Desktop colors have change.

Each time I perform a full scan with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, scan reports no viruses found. Internet explorer won't connect at all. I am using Safari as my default browser. The computer also randomly freezes.
Please help me.

Thanks.

As JMH stated, a clean install is probably the best way since some of the files may have been compromised.

You probably still have remnants of a virus on your PC, since you keep getting infected again, you may wish to try a AV Boot disk.

Free Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List

Note: Kaspersky boot disk has caused problems with Win 7 in the past. If they have remidied this problem, I do not know, however, you may wish to try the other disks 1st before using that one.

Another option you can try after running a boot disk, run a SFC /Scannow and see if that restores the files integrity.

Also, try running a scan with Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.

Since you computer is brand new you have free phone tech support. They can walk you through the steps to get connected to the Internet. Once this is done the tech can take remote control of your computer and possibly get your computer fixed. They can also tell you, step by step, what you need to do in the event you have to reboot a few times while running scans. They will call you back each time a scan completes to continue helping you. Hey, it's free and they do most of the work. So, why not. On the other hand, If you computer was out of warranty, or you built it yourself, this forum is the correct place to get help. You paid for your so called free tech support when you bought you computer, it's part of the cost. However, The people here are more than glad to assist you. Basically, your call.

Thanks. I have Malwarebytes Pro. I ran a full scan and it reported that everything was clean. This computer was a Christmas gift, I think the warranty is valid. I did another restore to factory settinig, but used McAfee Plus instead of Kaspersky. Everything seems ok for now, except for Hijaclk This. See attached. Then it gives me a blank report. I have noticed that since I restored to factory settings the computer seems faster. Thanks I really appreciate your support

McAfee is good. I used that for nearly 8 years. But, switched to Norton because my ISP, Comcast, provides it free with their service. Both are equally good.

As long as your the first person to register the new PC, it does matter if it was an xmas gift. Just provide date and place of purchase when registering. I've never had them ask for a store receipt.

I use the free version of Malwarebytes, because I don't need the real time protection which is already provided by my Internet Security software.

Someone else can address the Hijackthis issue. I had the same thing happen last year to my new Windows 7 64 bit PC. But, I don't remember now what I did to fix it. Hijackthis is becomming obsolute. Most security forums are now using OTL by Old Timer, instead.
