System Interrupts Freeze/crash

Hi, I've been having this problem for quite some time but it's become quite inconvenient as of late. The short of it is the system crashes on an almost daily basis, where the audio slushes out, CPU usage jumps to 100%, and the only way to fix it is to do a hard reset. I'd look in the task manager and not see any processes taking up all the CPU, however in the resource monitor I see "System Interrupts" is causing the freeze. I attached a screenshot of the resource monitor at the moment the freeze happens. This freeze is also characterized by the wireless connection losing access. It remains connected to the router, but loses the actual internet. I use a Belkin Wireless G 54mbps adapter. I believe my system specs will be around here since I filled them out when I registered.
As I said before, this happens just about every day. I've lost a good amount of information too, since the only way to get out of the freeze is to force a shutdown. I've seen similar problems searching around the internet but none of them have applied to me, nor have any of the fixes worked. So, anyone have any ideas on how to fix it, or at least find out what piece of hardware is causing the system interrupts?

Try another wireless adapter (or a wired connection).
As I recall, there are issues with the Belkin Wireless G 54mbps adapter (if this is the USB one).

If not, please replace the drivers with the most recent one's available on the Belkin website.

@usasma: This is not a problem with the wireless adapter. I got the exact same problem with a different wireless adapter, the linksys WUSB100. I thought that was the problem and got a new one, the Belkin. I installed the latest driver from Belkin that claims to support Windows 7.
@Other Rich: I'll take a look and see if that thread helps.

Took a look at the threads you linked me to Rich. Although similar, those are not quite my problem. I have all the latest drivers for my chipset, audio, motherboard, wireless, the works. I'm not asking you to tell me exactly what piece of hardware is causing the problem with my particular system, I just want to know what causes this system interrupts process to cycle the CPU to 100% and how to recognize that cause. I can fix it myself from there, I just have no idea where to start beyond updating drivers.

I also don't use anything from Apple. Which is ironic, since I'm an Apple certified technician...

Thanks for any help!

I have been having this problem for about 6 months now on and off. My system's symptoms were exactly the same as rmburke2's. After updating drivers for all my hardware, disabling hardware, and removing my wireless altogether I decided to remove my PCIe x16 ATI Radeon 2400PRO and switched to on-board video. My computer, which had locked up on me almost every day, has now been on for 3 days with no issues what-so-ever. I hope this helps as it seems to be a big issue for a lot of people running this OS.

Thanks famine, I appreciate your help. However I don't have a video card, and I don't plan on switching to on-board video since I would've spent all that money on an NVIDIA motherboard for nothing.
My question has simply turned into what causes this system interrupts problem? Some kind of hardware incompatible with Windows 7? Generally what kind of hardware causes this problem? If I can get some kind of idea as to what this process actually is I can probably get it fixed myself and post a solution. I just have no idea where to start.

Fixed, probably

Hello all,
I know it has been a long time since this thread was opened, but it seems that this problem was something Microsoft messed up and quietly fixed with an update. I recently had to reformat and got this same problem again, and ended up finding my own thread in the google searches I did!
Basically I installed any optional updates from Microsoft that were available that had to do with 64 bit systems, and it resolved the issues I had with the system interrupts.
So, hopefully this will help someone! Install those updates!
