System lock on waking from sleep mode

New user, so apologies if I've made any mistakes in the formatting of this post.

I get intermittent freezing on waking from sleep mode, and indeed occasionally it wakes up immediately after sleeping.

I looked in the event manager and after 2 separate occasions of it freezing on waking up, it's come up with vwififilt as the culprit. I hope I've uploaded a screengrab correctly.

I can't find anything online which distinguishes why this file is not loading and causing a freeze on waking from sleep mode.

Any ideas on what I can do to remedy this problem? And also why I might be getting this sporadic problem of the system waking immediately after sleeping?

I would rename it to *.bak at least to test.

If you dont have SP-1 installed please run the update readiness tool then update to SP-1

Please run the update readiness tool and then update to SP-1

I had the same problem with my computer. From the sleep mode it would try to wake up but would freeze for about a minute and just as you were about to turn it off using the off button, it reboots, and sometimes does it twice. It would sometimes wake with no problem but very often it does not. I am happy to report that it has now stopped doing that.
Why? I don't know but I can tell you what I did was; a) Use a Sceptre TV as a monitor and b) I am now using another wireless mouse & keyboard from logitec. Now I don't know for a fact if one or both changes corrected the problem but I'm happy to announce that the problem is solved. I'll also add that this PC has been used on 3different brand monitors before i.e. Asus & HP but the mouse has been the same until now.

Thanks for the info. I did indeed have another sleep issue not long after I posted this, as I suspected I would through sod's law. I don't recall having any problems with my previous mouse, admittedly.

renamed vwififlt.sys to .old solved my problem, but...

Windows 7 64bit with a atheros built in 9285 wireless card, usb Asus awus 036h that I also use for my virtual machines and virtual box with about a dozen different vms that I use often. I had occasional 9f bluescreens driver_power_state or something like that only when trying to shutdown the computer or restart once in a while it would take a while and then blue screen. I debugged the dump and found out it was from the infamous vwififlt.sys driver which I have had to troubleshoot on Windows 7 boxes in the past 2 years. OK so i renamed vwififlt.sys to .old and have had no problems since I have tuneup utilities keep telling me that this missing driver is causing problems, but I don't see any, anyway I saw a post here by zigzag to uninstall the driver and reinstall, but when you find the hidden vwififlt.sys driver in device manager... there is no option to roll it back or update or anything. How do I go about replacing this driver with a known good one from Microsoft or am I forced to use this same one and rename it back to .sys again, because thats what it looks like is my only option. Any ideas???:sarc:

djmeznyc, can you provide the .dmp files so we can confirm that vwififlt.sys is the true problem and not a false positive or masking the actual driver issue?
