System Restore Failed

After IE 9 was installed and I had several problems. It was uninstalled and I am now running IE 8. I tried to restore to a 2 week prior point and got this measage "Systm restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory for the restore point:
And : Source : %SystemRoot%\registration
And : Destination : ComPlusStaging
How do I search for the directory?

You could try this firstly - put your w7 install dvd in the drive first - so it can copy the files
Next click start - type CMD in the search press enter - right click and select run as administrator - type this in the window SFC /scannow press enter this will scan your system files for corruption.

I tried your suggestion to install the windows 7 dvd. Explain "so it can copy the files". I did your second suggestion to scan the system and this "did not find any integrity violations". One comment, the prompt was C:\Windows\System32> and my system is 64. Would that make a difference? I hope I can fix this without a Repair Install!
