Hello,
my Sony VAIO laptop got interrupted by accident during System Restore
and since then, when I open my computer, it goes directly to Startup Repair and it tell me despite several attempts, they couldn't find the cause of the problem and this is the details of the problem :

Problem Signature: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 1: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 2: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 3: unknown
Problem Signature 4: 21200006
Problem Signature 5: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 6: 12
Problem Signature 7: CorruptFile
OS version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
LOcal ID : 3084

I tried to find a solution like restore the system with the Command-line interpreter but it didn't work.It say the system restore has not been performed, files and settings of the computer weren't changed and it failed to restore the system when deleting the file/directory path: D: \ $ Extend \ $ RmMetadata \ $ Txf \ 00000000000282A7 \ Amd64_microsoft-windows-s .. e
Try to restore the system from a different restore point. If the error persists, try to use advanced recovery method.

Can anyone please help me?

Hello jazy and welcome to Seven Forums.

Can you access Safe Mode through the Advanced Boot Options menu? If yes, try doing system restore from Safe Mode.

If this doesn't help it's very possible the interruption damaged or corrupted system files. Try running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

Please post back if anything helped or not.

Hi,thanks for your reply.

I can access the Advanced Boot Option menu with F8 but it goes to Startup Repair again even though I clicked Safe Mode. The only way I found out to restore the system was to use The Systeme Recovery Option but it give me the error.

As for sfc / scannow, it says there's a system repair pending which requires to reboot, restart Windows and run sfc again.I tried many times and I still got the same error.

In situations like this it's almost a certainty that several critical system files have been damaged or corrupted. It might be possible to use these troubleshooting guides and get your Vaio working again.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html

The tutorials will be time consuming and have helped many. But there are two other options that might appeal to you. The first is a repair install. It will try to fix your currently installed Windows 7 while preserving your user accounts, data, programs, system drivers, etc. The repair usually takes less than an hour but you will have to reinstall Windows Updates. And that could take another hour or more. The big advantage is if the repair install works you won't have to reinstall programs or reconfigure your personalized settings, etc You'll need a Windows 7 installation disk and you can get a free legal copy from the link in the Warning box (third warning.)

The second option is to do a complete reinstall of the operating system. I did this to my Vaio VPCEB47GM and it's amazing how much better it runs without all the factory bloatware that came pre-installed.

If you decide to try any of these there are many people available on this Forum who can answer your questions or help walk you through the steps.

The biggest problem some people have is not asking questions before starting. So please, if you're confused about something or just need some clarification on a particular step, ASK! :)
