System Restore Points Missing

I just installed windows 7 professional 64 on a laptop which is part of a SBS2008 domain and have come across a problem with system restore which could cause problems in future if ever I need it.
I have got a single disk drive with system protection enabled with max usage up to 11 GB.
I can go in and create restore ponts and can see that they are there by looking at the current disk space usage. The problem is that whenever I reboot my PC, all previous restore points dissappear.

Make sure that they are there not by looking at disc space, but rather go to SR, indicate that you want to restore, it will show you what is available. If you do see one or more points available, I think that when you boot up you are automatically making copies of your documents or even a system image. If so, points are being deleted due to the lack of space. Go to task manger and see what is scheduled for boot up in the areas of system restore, system image and back up and restore

I tried that and it shows no system restore points available.
I have however found this in the system event log though.

Event 25, volsnap
The shadow copies of volume C: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.

The event log on line help for this event is for windows server 2008 and it says I should move the shadow copy area to a different volume. Windows 7 doesn't seem to give this option.

Bottom line, you are going to have to devote more space to storage. Could be the best solution is to buy an external hard drive. It is best to store the information on a medium other than your HD. You HD could crash.

Working now

Did a bit of re-organising to move some of my big data files onto another partition which I will back up separately. Problem was still the same.
Then ran a windows 7 repair install and restore points are now being created and retained.
