System Restore taking too long?

I recently posted in the sound/audio forum and got some help from Stormy concerning my audio drivers, and he suggested a system restore. I set it for yesterday morning (which was before I had all the problems I am having currently). My computer has been running system restore for almost 2 hours now, and I think its stuck. The monitor shows nothing, it is black. Is there anything that can be done?

I would kill it (cold boot) and look in the event viewer (type eventvwr in search) to see what the problem is

Do you have a proper Windows 7 install disk or a Windows 7 created repair disk?

I'll check for a CD, but if I don't have it, you're sure its alright to cool kill it? I really dont want to mess up my system...

EDIT: Cannot locate disk, is it necessary? And I would like to system restore...my drivers are a little tweaked and need to be reverted back to what they were orginially

The odds are pretty good you're going to have issues as it is now, hence the question about the disk. If you don't have one have a look at the tutorial at the link below.

It's not really a good thing to do though you have no other options.

Okay, so this system repair fixes all startup problems, will I be able to fix my drivers if all goes according to plan, then use system restore after it? My goal is to revert back to my old driver so I can get sound through my computer, and I don't want any long term damage to my computer. Will this fix it?

Let's do one thing at a time, let's see if the PC will boot after the hard-shutdown.
