system restore

when i try system restore i git this message the parameters is incorrect (0x800706be) i have have tried different restore points same message appears what can i do to fix it . yesterday in C cleaner i pressed system restore by mistake . could tat be the problem ? nothing happened .

Well let's be clear are you experiencing a specific problem that has lead you to desire the use of system restore?

Sounds like you may have missing or corrupt system components. Follow the instructions above to run SFC

Open CCleaner to report back exactly what you selected that you think might be System Restore. I do not see System Restore points available to clean up in CCleaner. What exactly did you select?

Aha, thanks Jacee, I'm running an older version of CCleaner on this laptop.

If you deleted Restore Points then that would likely be the cause. Are they still listed as available when you open System Restore?

Next browse to this location to see whether SysRestore is correctly turned on and configured:



If a "missing" or incorrect drive besides C: is listed as turned on, highlight it then click Configure to turn it off. Next highlight correct C: Win7 partition, click Configure to turn it on.

If only C: is listed and turned on but your System Restore points won't work, you may need to highlight it, click Configure to turn it off to reset it, then turn it back on.

11th step of what? There are only 6 steps in the tutorials posted.

Restart computer and check again to see if it finds the drive in restore utility.

Can you confirm you still have working System Restore points?

If not, you may need to reset System Restore by turning it off using Configure button if it will find the drive, or deleting SysVolInfo file.

But first, answer these questions and run the System File Checker using tutorial given.
