Curious, I attempted to open system resore - got a message back that I did not have a restore point, I should create one.
I always had a restore point, what would have caused it to be deleted? I did create a new restore point and it did open, but what would have caused the other to be uninstalled/deleted? Need to be overly cautious now.

Hello mate now have you done a disk clean up recently and used the Advanced clean button because that will delete restore points ? I am guessing that you have but in case not did you check the restore points that go further back? see pic
Have you checked (and I am guessing you have ) these - if not please do

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 >in safe mode if need be

then these

https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/index.html

http://www.superantispyware.com/

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ADW download from bleepingcomputer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans

NB If anyone is runningKaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable it for awhile
