Solved System running slow after many AV clean ups

Hello,
Running ACER win 7 Home Prem and a few weeks ago, just started running slow. I have Avast AV running, removed some programs, and ran several virus programs (tdsskiller-kaspersky; rkill-bleepingcomputer; malwarebytes-malwaretips; roguekiller-bleepingcomputer; AdwCleaner-toolslib.net; JRT-thisisudax.org; and esetsmartinstaller_enu-eset.com). The AV programs came up with minimal issues. In looking at the Services, I see svchost.exe taking about 60%.

Any suggestions?

Once you update it in your settings, it becomes available at every of your posts (past or future) though the link "My System Specs" on the lower left corner of each post.

Note: I'm not a security expert.
These are things I would do if it was my computer.

The list of programs you run looking for infection are very good programs.
I do have a question.

In your post you state this.

The AV programs came up with minimal issues

Do you still have logs showing what you are calling minimal issues or do you remember what the issues were?
It could help if we knew what the issues were and how they were handled.

If I had this computer to repair I would remove all those infection scan programs because you are done with them at this time.

Then I would remove Avast using it's online removal instructions.
Then after a fresh boot I would run TFC and then reboot again.

Get TFC from here.

TFC Download

Then I would download and install Malwarebytes Anti Malware and MSE (update both).

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows.

Malwarebytes comes Free, Trial or Premium. Choose one from the Malwarebytes site or Bleeping Computer site.

svchost.exe has been a fairly popular cpu eater lately
Mostly because of the windows update system
If you switch to Never check for updates and restart it may return to normal.

Browser - Mostly Chrome, sometime FF or IE
Do not have Ccleaner.

I am also running Ultimateoutsider's GWX Control Panel to stop WIN 10 updates.

Have followed Layback's protocol above and just finished running MSE, Quick scan, which took 18 hrs. No threats found. Am now running full scan.

So.... Any suggestions?

You could always do a repair install. It will save all your data/programs and just repair anything wrong with Windows. Many cleanings multiply your chances of "cleaning" a wrong thing or two. While all your listed programs are reputable ..... well, you just never know. In looking at the Services, I see svchost.exe taking about 60%.

I recommend checking your Windows 7 Update settings.
If it is set to Auto Update your svchost could be high at times.

Chrome will also raise svchost because of the way it works.
Check and see how much svchost is being used by Chrome.

Could you post from your computer these two pictures?
Notice that in Services that the box in the lower left Hide Microsoft Services is checked.

lookin at your spec thats a pretty old rig, not being personnal in any way
As the cpu only runs at a max of 1.6,
you really need to turn off as much as possible.
Go to blackVipers web site and use the standard settings for services.

If your not using IE, turn it off (control panel>>progs & features>> turn features on/off(top left) ..

Hi,
Internet explorer is about the only browser worth using on a low spec's machine if it works okay that is
It using the least amount of resources I've found
Chrome and even Firefox use way too many resources imho and aren't any faster.

Heck I've been using Pale moon and it also uses way too much to operate.

you didn't say if it the slow speed was due to heavy disk use b the system. If so, then take a look at this thread I started last night. At least for me, System Restore was the culprit.

Did not want to put more time into this, so I took it to a repair guy, who said he found a virus. All is working fine now. Thank you all for your help.
