Please advise,
KB947821 stops installing at about 85% of the way through. I have turned off automatic installation, but it's stuck in a loop:
It attempts to install every time I turn off the laptop, tries and then fails to apply the installation when I turn on the laptop and won't respond when I try to stop the installation as administrator from the control panel.
Laptop seems to be running ok otherwise,
Thanks in advance,
AB

KB947821 is the CheckSUR tool - and very rarely will it attempt to automatically install, since it's a tool to fix existing problems, rather than an update.

It will often take anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 or 4 hours to run, so leave it to run overnight - it will appear to have stalled for most of that time, but is in fact working hard.

If as you say, it's actually failing, then you may have some severe problems.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - don't bother attempting to install CheckSUR again - the logs should already be present in the CBS folder, and can be posted.

Thanks for your assistance Noel,
The issue seems to have cleared, when I went into the control panel, KB947821 was listed as successful and it's shutting down and booting up no trouble. I clearly need to know more about computer maintenance.

Please post the resulting CheckSUR report sowe can establish that there are no underlying problems - a SFC scan would also be a good idea.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - you've already done the CheckSUR scan, so ignore that bit, and just post the logs after running the SFC
