For the first:

Run disk cleanup as a starting point. [In the start menu, type "cleanmgr.exe" in the search box and hit Enter]

There are other tools that help clean out your temp files like Piriform's CCleaner [www.piriform.com]

For the second:

Typically sudden shutdowns are caused by heat. If the processor gets too hot, it will tell everything to shut down to protect itself. If you can, pop open your case and blow/vacuum out the dust bunnies.

Those are two places to start.

Sorry deleted my comments as I looked at the wrong system spec and thought the OP had a laptop!

1. Two popular ways of disk cleanup : a) Run Disk Cleanup (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup ; and b) download , install and run CCleaner

2. The most strong reason may be you are using a RC . A retail version doesnot behave like that.
