Takes several minutes for 1 TB USB 3 Seagate HD to be recognized by my W7 PC's.
After several yr of working fine, all of a sudden is takes several minutes for my 1 TB USB 3 Seagate HD to be recognized by my W7 PC's.
1) Reformatted drive.
2) Tried several USB 3 cables.
Neither 1 or 2 worked; however when the drive did come up, the files were there and everything worked as it should. Seems to me its going bad. Is there any way I can check & maybe restore. Was able to do this yrs ago. I have quite a few much older USB 2/3 HD by Segate & HP that work fine.

The larger the drive and the more content in it, the longer it can take for Win 7 to find and index it. I Use 4TB SSDs for my backup drives and one set that has 2.66TB of data on it can take as much as a minute or more to be "found" and indexed.

The drive is empty as I just formatted it. Even when it had 600+ GB on it, it connected in 2-3 seconds to both my pc's. Even my 2TB (1.8 TB content) the drive connects in seconds.
I also have a USB 3 128 GB flash dr that takes up to 5 hr to load a measley 9-10 GB data. So much for hi tech, when you're in business, you need horsepower, not fluffy marketing.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi klxdrt,
comments that might help
That MB only has 2 USB3 ports, stuck it in a usb2
I also see your also running 32bit, youll get better performance using 64bit.
Thanks for the tips, I did try USB 2 to no avail. The real question here is: The drive worked flawlessly for several yrs on my W7 Pro 32 bit version. On Monday 7-19 my PC's wouldn't recognize it???
I did not make any changes or have any "situations" with my PCs. And I keep my PCs strictly maintained.
I did read some other posts about Seagate USB drives having problems recognizing them. Haven't seen HP or other drives for sale at local Best Buy & Staples stores.
Regards,

This problem happened on a laptop & a desktop that were made/configured for my needs so I have no idea. Slammed the next several days to take apart PCs.
2 days ago I had 6 USB drives connected to the desktop with no problem. Have had this config several dz times in the last several years.
Both PCs have SSD drives if that means anything as to power consumption, etc.
I'll get back to you guys tomorrow as things just got "curiouser & curiouser".
