I try to start the task manager, from desktop or Ctrl+Alt+Del and it will not pop up. Someone said it could be disabled so I used a registry key settings file to enable it but this has not worked.

Now I am getting this message: (See attached screenshot)

Any help is appreciated. ;)

Hello!
What anti-virus are you using? Try uninstalling it and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you may need to scan for bad system files:
Open a command prompt and try "sfc /scannow" with out the quotes.
You may also need to do a Repair Install, if neither of the above work.

Hi Jonathan, great point there. I just installed a fresh copy of bitdefender total security 2010 last night when I put windows 7 on, it seems some other people that have bitdefender are also getting this problem.

I've looked through and allowed the task manager in advanced settings, but no luck yet.

I had the same problem

none of any solutions works with then finally I did system restore in safe mode because Norton was avoiding my system restore to complete so I did it in safe mode and I was lucky that I found one restore point before the problem happened and task manager works and everything back to normal , I think it was a virus from a stupid keygen from the internet and I made a mistake before the problem I disabled Norton internet security Auto protection :geek:that was the reason of the virus and the task manager couldn't start and when I enabled Auto protection again I did a full system scan that didn't solve anything so beware from any files like keygens and don't disable Anti virus Auto protection that might help you
thank you
