Taskbar Auto-Hide Feature

For some reason, the auto hide feature does not work. If I select it and apply, the bar drops down and comes back up. I have tried several times. It is annoying as media controls and web page buttons are hidden behind the task bar.

hi and welcome to seven forums , does the taskbar spring back up when you mouse over it ...as this is what it is supposed to do

The taskbar remains raised all the time. I have minimized everything, looking at desktop, but taskbar still visible. Only time it drops is when I select apply for autohide, then comes right back up.

Hmm not too sure about that then, you could try running sfc/scannow command ,try opening start menu all programmes/accessories right click command prompt run as administrator type sfc/scannow in command window and enter ,then keep your fingers crossed!
