has anyone found a way to change the icons of apps that have been pinned to the start menu other than reshacking the exe?

Hello Garbanzo,

You could create a shortcut of the exe file, then change the icon of the shortcut and pin that shortcut to the Start Menu.

wow, that was easy. thanks a lot! things are looking a bit more consistent now...

You're welcome Garbanzo. Just do not move or delete the new shortcut afterwards, or the pinned icon the Start Menu will not work anymore.
