Doesn't works and i'm not surprised. I don't see how a Intel 855 GME with xp driver from 2003 could manage aero:huh:

The answer looks like no, unfortunately. Your thread has had 150 views already, and no one has the answer.

If you can't enable Aero, I don't think it is possible.

You may try Googling for something like "Taskbar thumbnails Windows XP" or something like that.

That is the disadvantage of old hardware; the new software does not support it.

Hello,

I recommend that you buy a newer laptop. Make sure it at least meets, preferably exceeds, the requirements of Windows 7:

  • 1GB RAM for 32-bit, 2GB for 64-bit.
  • 1 GHz CPU
  • 16GB hard drive space for 32-bit, 20GB for 64-bit
  • DirectX 9 capable video card, preferably better
If you need some recommendations, please post the price range you are looking at, and we'll try to find something for you.

Hi,

No i don't want / need a new laptop because i already have a powerfull desktop computer and i only use this laptop to surf on the web when i'm in my bed :sleepy:
I don't do anything else with this computer that i got free
M$ and companies like intel are pushing peapole to buy new hardware even if the software are able to work on it, it's commercial

Aero just doesn't work on old hardware; it requires DirectX 9 and still uses a lot of resources.

Fortunately, you can still use Windows 7 without Aero; it just doesn't look as pretty.

If it's any consolation, 50% of the time I am using Remote Desktop to my desktop, from a laptop in my house or elsewhere. While using RDC, I do not get any nice Aero features...the price I am willing to pay for the convenience of having my desktop on my screen from anywhere I have internet access.
