Taskbar problem

As stated, there seems to have developed a problem with my nice shiny new task bar. Since a couple of days ago, the icons that were there, IE, Firefox etc all seem to have dissapeared & you can no longer drag & drop icons onto it, you just get a little "No Entry" sign pops next to the gragged icon! Another thing is that yesterday I found you can't delete icon using right click, on a previously used program icon on the start menu & "Remove from List" anymore?
Has anybody else had similar strange things starting to happen?

Hello Dave.

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I have not seen that behavior. Have you installed anything just before this started happening?
You might try a restore point to before the problem started.

Please keep us posted.

Hello Gary, sorry forgot to say hello to everyone :0(

Nothing installed at all, it just seemed to happen! I have read on another forum that it has happened to someone else too???
Also I've noticed that after clearing previously used program icons in start menu, it now doesn't save any!! I've been working with PC's & windows for about 12 years now & have guessed it could be just part of a beta bug.

Go here and see if any programs are listed. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

You will need to have 'show hidden files and folders' ticked in order to see the AppData folder. System restore is my only other idea.

If there are programs listed, I'd try deleting them all and rebooting to see if that wouldn't reset something, but I make no guarantees.

Stuff disapearing seems to be a standard problem with Windows 7 in general. I have favicons disapearing and sign in cookies vanishing for no reason at all. The cursor placement seems to have problems as well. I sure hope others complain about these problems because they exsist for sure.

I have had that same cookie info loss chev65, the others I haven't seen.

I think the cookie data loss is due to IE8 bugginess, MS says it's not quite at the same level as the rest of W7 is yet.
Yes, I report anything like this directly to MS developers at MS Connect (bypassing that Feedback tool) and they are receiving tons of little GUI and function bugs. Still, for this early Beta, this is far ahead of any previous OS was at this stage.
Also we have to remember that allot of reported bugs are not reproduceable outside of the system that reported it, so it may be machine specific. That's why when the get 1000 reports of the same bug, they know it is one, but one or two is usually machine related.

I haven't had any problems with cookies in Firefox, so it must be an IE thing. I was having those same problems with IE8 beta in Vista.
