Taskbar Shortcuts, choose browser?

Hello,

I hve a bit of a strange request -

I am trying to see if I can select myself, which program the webpage shortcuts in 'taskbar' open with.

Reason for this ...

I have installed on my win7 os, two versions of IE11,

I have one for 32bit,

and one for 64bit

Hi there, If you have the 32-bit version pinned to your taskbar, it will only use the 32 bit version, not the 64 bit, Go into the IE11 Directory and find the 64 bit version, click and drag it to your taskbar.

I very much doubt it,
The only way to have 64 bit processes is to activate Enhanced protection mode,

It's not as simple as it was in ie8-9 to use separate processes anymore,

hello, thanks for both your replies -

the problem is im having is as follows ....

my browser is IE11 and it uses the 64bit version .

I save pages into my taskbar from the 64bit .

...but!

when I click on the shortcut that then gets created, it open the 32bit version of IE ?

very bizarre :/

Activate Enhanced Protection Mode to use all 64 bit Processes,

Verify with Task Manager,

With EPM not activated you'll see only one 64 bit process usually Managing the open *32 bit processes,

With EPM Activated you'll see One still Managing but All open Tabs are now using 64 bit Processes,

yes I do use 64bit in general . it is attached to my quick launch and everytime I click on it, it opens the 64bit version, so its deff the right one.
Even my shortcuts that are 'added to desktop' open in the correct version, 64bit.

It just seems to be the taskbar shortcuts that persist on opening with the 32bit version :/

Thanks for your replies ...

The problem im having, is Norton ...

as you can see in the pictures im going to upload below ... the first picture is taken from the IE opened via quick launch with Norton in the toolbar ...

and the picture below it will be off a shortcut, pulled down into the taskbar / launched from the taskbar - but WITHOUT Norton in the toolbar :/ ...

and then underneath that is an image of the task manager open as requested - hope this gives some kind of idea - many thanks again in advance,

It appears that you'll only be able to open 64-bit tabs in IE11 if you don't do so without the Norton toolbar.

Will enabling EMP cause any hiccups, could I revert back if things start going wrong, or Norton doesn't respond correctly ?

It shouldn't, but you could turn off EMP anytime you like if needed.
