tea spilt on notebook

I have a hp g62 laptop.

Recently tea was spilt on the keyboard and it would not start up properly.

The laptop would not go to notebook.

I thought i would turn it on and see if i can figure out the problem.

I found out that the ; key keeps automatically being pressed without physically pressing it. So when you turn on laptop, it makes a loud single beep.

Anyways i managed to get to the desktop now with the help of a external keyboard (connecting through usb).

My question: Is there a way to disable the built in keyboard because i think thats causing problems?

The laptop would not go to desktop when turning it on *

This method should disable the built in keyboard.

Open Control Panel, click on Device Manager, find keyboard in device manager, click on + sign for drop down menu to disable keyboard driver. Reboot should be required to make this permanent or uninstall it.

If you have the USB keyboard already attached it should show up in the list of keyboards as well so be sure to disable the right one.

i remember uninstalling it and when i restarted it, it installed it self and looked for updates

Try disabling it instead of uninstalling it. If you uninstall it & reboot the computer will look for drivers & load them again. Disabling it should stop that process, but make sure you reboot after disabling the built in keyboard.

My suggestion:
- Download the service manual for your laptop from HP. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542102.pdf
- Follow the steps to remove the keyboard. You don't need to remove it, just take the flat cable of the keyboard from the MoBo connector. Page 54 and 55
