So far I am loving Widows 7, just call me "McLovin".

The only problem I am having with it so far is this Dang HL2.exe error.

Whenever I start to load up Team Fortress 2 I get that error.

I even tried the compatability mode but that didn't work either.

It is really no biggie since I have Steam installed on my Desktop.

Please help me if you can.

TYIA,
Fubar65

BTW : I can play Half Life 2 fine!?

You can play hl2 fine? but on a hl2 mod you cant play? I would try to re-install tf2 personally and maybe even steam altogether.

Mostly gaming rig with XP installed.
WHS is an old gateway box with 1.5tb of storage running utorrent as a service with a gui.
Win7 on my acer aspire one netbook.
I never had this issue, but all I can think of is the Orange Box engine, maybe ask the Steam Community Forums.

TF2 isn't a mod, just another game built on the source engine. Like L4D.

HL2.exe strikes again!!!!!

I too have issues with HL2.EXE error. It started with Vista Ultimate 64 and appears not have been solved with Windows 7. I was hoping that someone would have figured this out by now. At least I have not had it completely freeze up my PC, but it just pops up the annoying "hl2.exe has stopped working" and it kicks me out of Counter Strike Source or any other Valve game I have. I have tried adjusting the fan speed settings to see if it was a heating error, but heat is not the culprit. I know the memory is good and the HDD had a clean format. Thank the Lord I have not had any BSODs in 7 yet...letys just hope that continues. All my drivers are updated as of last night (when I installed Windows 7) but it still happens???

Any word yet Microsoft?????

A lot of forums pass blame back and forth, but either valve, steam or microsoft is at fault and they should all work on it together to KEEP CUSTOMERS!!!!

Here are my specs:

AMD 6400+ Black Edition (not overclocked)
ASUS a3m32 deluxe wifi app MOBO
4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer
ATI HD3870
1TB WD HDD Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
250GB WD HDD Windows 7

Valve had this for some time now it works and it don't, first don't take me wrong what the beep do you have 64 bit for? It took them 10 YEARS to come out with a 32bit OS after the first 32 CPU so you can take that and double it. The first 32 OS was Windows 95 go back 10 YEARS to the CPU that support it I'm not telling you do your History.

One of my friends got a recording Studio and 64 bit is only good for Applications that can use the full pipe with the 16GBs of Memory and two CPUs that's Sockets "Not in one" so if you don't own a recording Studio or something with Videos that can use the OS your better off with a 32bit ya some games work with 64Bit but how cares. Do Left 4 Dead fill up the 64pipe NO and will never. ;)

Again with the x64 stuff? sheesh, give it a rest already.

If your content to stay with x32, that's fine. It's your choice to do so. But please don't go insulting others for their choice.

I do a lot of video editing, and sound mixing and recording. I also like to play some sweet video games. I like the bandwidth options of x64 compared to x32. I like having ddr2, and all that comes with it. Your comments however do not even relate to the issue at hand.

I AM dealing with an x64 system, and windows IS making x64 OS's so therin my problem has not been solved and your comments aren't in the least helpful. Can anyone else on these forums offer any intelligent answers to this problem?
