i have Spybot S&D on my laptop, and included Tea Timer in the installation. I just saw at this current moment that its taking 124,932 K and my memory is at 1.2 GB out of 2GB without even doing anything when its usually a lot lower. This occured after I logged off my account but there were errors that came up when initially trying so I forced the log off, could this be the reason? Also...

1. Do I need Tea Timer, is it recommended?
2. it says I have 166542 processes blacklisted out of 283740, im guessing thats not good

and a side note, I keep finding the "Open New Side Note" icon in my hidden icons tray, and I have never used it, does anyone know why this could be?

This is just my own personal recommendation. I use Spybot but I didn't configure it with Immunization or Tea Timer mainly because I have had problems with Tea Timer and other running malware applications in the past. At the moment it seems that Microsoft Security Essentials is adequate as a security option.

I also use Malwarbytes at least every other day, but have no other apps running constantly other than MSE.

I seem to have better luck by just running Spybot as I do Malwarebytes and that is every other day or so.

What software should i get to replace spybot?Heard some gd reviews on SuperAntiSpyware.Good enough?

SuperAntiSpyware is decent but I dropped it, after paying for the pro version, because I got tired of all the errors in Event Viewer because of their lack of getting drivers that supported 64 bit. They were supposed to have them by the end of '09. Maybe they do have now.

All I've used since October is MSE with Malwarebytes to keep it honest and, (knocking on wood), I've not had a problem. MSE has caught two items on this computer and one on the wife's XP system.

IMO, if you are going to use that process you are going to have to expect a hit on your ram. That's one of the reasons I quit using it a few years back. At the time I didn't have all that much ram to spare and since then I've found Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes to be lighter and very efficient.

You only need one security app, and a hardware + software firewall. You do not any other apps. Malwarebytes is unnecessary unless your system has been compromised.

when tea timer say x out of y processes blacklisted, and x and and y are different numbers, it means spybot has updated its blacklist, but you havent elected to refresh the protection to include the new stuff.
