Hi there
Since they messed around with Technet reducing nr of keys to 5 etc there seems to be another problem.

I can't upgrade a Version of X-86 W7 Professional to x-86 W7 Ultimate any more -- I want the Ultimate edition to test out the Multi Language packs for some International Users.

Now I get a message saying to Upgrade one edition of Windows to another you have to go to Windows Anytime Upgrade which then seems to want some sort of payment.

I don't really want to do a clean install as I need to test whether the update works.

Anyway round this problem -The W7 editions are both X-86 and genuine technet downloaded editions with valid keys.

I upgraded from a Starter edition on a Netbook to W7 Pro without any problems before so in W7 PRO to ULTIMATE should work.

What gives. ???

Cheers

Hi Jim -

MS wants us to use Anytime Upgrade to move between versions of Win7, but as you found out retail keys will work in Anytime.

There is also a workaround to in-place Upgrade within Win7 including to lesser versions which Anytime won't do.
