Technet Plus Subscription

Is anyone here already a member? The reason I ask is that I was trying to join Technet Plus (I have a 20% discount coupon) and when I sign into my Windows Live ID the page goes into error mode saying that this page can't connect with WL or words to that effect.
I already have a "Guest" account with Technet linked, so I know the ID works with the site.
Anyone know if Windows Live is having issues at the moment?

I got as far as the "Buy" button. Click that and up comes the usual Windows Live sign-in box. It's then that it goes weird.
I reported a bug.

I suppose I could try resetting IE8 and starting over. It does the same in Firefox however, which makes me think that there's some sort of bug.

Maybe someone on high is telling me not to waste my money.

I've known technet act like that and it usually sorts itself out after a few hours, it could be a regional thing.

Yes I've tried both US and Canada as a country, now it wont even go as far as the live ID sign-in. I wonder if it's something this end...very weird.

By the way, did either of you go through the motions of buying or renewing a membership? It seems to be at that point, just before payment that it breaks down. I've tried now in Windows 7, Vista and XP, all with the same result.

Do you have the same antivirus, firewall and antispyware set up on all three computers? You're being directed to a secure site, so it sounds like something is blocking you.

Win 7 is Avast A/V & Windows Firewall, the rest are all the latest McAfee. I've even tried creating a new Live ID still the same. It starts to load the next page and clicks in and out several times before reaching that failed page I showed previously.

I'm in my spare XP right now and it diud exactly the same thing here. I've posted on the microsoft.public.technet newsgroup to see if anyone there might have a clue what's going on.

Very strange. I thought that maybe my coupon code was the problem but no it isn't.

Is Windows Defender running? Clean your temps and cookies .. you could have a corrupted cookie

Check everything except "Prefetch", click "Empty Selected". Do the same for FireFox or Opera if you use either of those browsers.

I've had a Technet sub for years and unfortunately Technet seems to get everything about the same time as the public. We sometimes get it a day or so early. Whoopie

I'm wondering if Microsoft's "fabuous" IE8 is incompatible with the signup process
